I have loved every minute of this BOM by Sarah Fielke and although I have been quilting for 20 years, I learned a few things and finally conquered my fear of paper piecing :)
This top is off to be machine basted and then I plan to hand quilt it, trying Sarah's big stitch quilting - it may take a few years (!)
Photos of each block are HERE the background is an old Martha McCluskey staples fabric, a small grey pindot on an off white, the rest of the fabrics are Liberty Tana Lawns which were a joy to stitch with. The outer border is another Tana Lawn 'Juno's Garden'
What a fabulous finish. Wish I could see it in person as I love Liberty Lawns. The border fabric is so interesting and pretty.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Well done indeed. It is a great success!
ReplyDeleteFantastic!
ReplyDeleteYour Happy Days flimsy is a triumph, Elaine. I am in awe!!

This is so pretty, lovely fabrics.
ReplyDeleteThe rabbit block and the pot of flowers block (in the upper half of the quilt) are my favorites.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Elaine, it looks great! The big stitch quilting is quite quick so you might surprise yourself.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt! You've done such an amazing job! Hope the quilting is enjoyable for you. I'm glad you want to hand quilt it -- I love any type of hand quilt work.
ReplyDeleteWhat a Beautiful Finish. I still have some Marsha McCluskey fabric stored away for backgrounds as well. Having a machine quilter baste a large quilt is a great idea. It sure keeps me off the floor and you too.
ReplyDeleteIt is so beautiful. I'm so far behind with this quilt LOL
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely, Elaine! Well done for staying up to date on it, too. Are you doing the next one? I like it even better, from the sketches so far.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beauty! I don't think I could pick a favorite block. They are all gorgeous. And the fabrics!
ReplyDeleteElaine it is lovely, it was also great to go in and see each block a great idea for those of us who like to see close up work. Im doing sashiko quilting now much like big stitch but its a heavy thread, longer needle and you use a thimble in your palm to push the needle through so great if you have arthritis. I used it on my Teddy Bears Picnic child's quilt which I finished quilting last night YAYYYYY. Hope you enjoy your quilting I find hand quilting very soothing. Hugs Glenda
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Emily on such a gorgeous quilt top finish.
